Critically examine the view that Industrial Relations has diffused conflict between Employers and Employees and has introduced democracy to the workplace.
Industrial relations is the branch at the workplace that works towards minimizing conflicts between the employers and their employees. This would mean that the trade unions at the wake of industrial revolution became a formidable force in demanding the needs of the employees in terms of pay, facilities, infrastructure, benefits etc. for the workers thus, working towards making the lives of the employees better. They also acted as a collective bargaining source by neutralizing the demands and expectations of both the employers and the workers. It also facilitated the relationship between the employer and the state by making enough adjustments and changes that would better serve the interests of both the parties. People who involve in the conflict resolution process facilitate mediation while at the same time ensure a fair deal is achieved. It has thus changed the face of the industries by making it more democratic from the aristocratic management style in the past.
