One of the most important components of a team is their cohesiveness as this is the extent to which members are attracted to the team and motivated to remain in it. This applies to teams in sports and teams in the workplace. Tough Mudder emphasizes their pride in great teamwork and comradery within their team relationships. Collaboration is important to facilitate team cohesiveness and Tough Mudder does a good job of this by having their creative and marketing teams working closely with the teams on the ground to connect on ideas, resolve problems, and deploy plans in a unified way. VP Alex understand that members of highly cohesive team are committed to team activities and a team-oriented environment that brings them happiness and therefore success. He encourages his message of doing your job well to support you team members and helping others so that they do not fail. These principles are a great foundation and reflect in how Tough Mudder has been successful in growing teams that are highly cohesive. Alex appears to take on both the task specialist role as well as the socioemotional role as he is the director of creating plans, initiating ideas, and giving direction and opinions while also being very understanding, facilitating healthy boundaries, and helping team members harmonize with each other. This type of leadership also reflects in a strong cohesive team. Tough Mudder is highly cohesive because they are employees that are flexible and step out of their roles to help meet the needs of the company or to help their team members. They are employees that focus on doing their job the best they can to support their coworkers and they help new employees assimilate to grow to be a part of their team too
