Health teaching regarding colorectal cancer screening includes:

Colorectal cancer screening should start at 50 years . There are multiple screening methods are available.

1. Colonoscopy- Golden test to detect colorectal cancers. It is a preferred test, done at 10 years interval , if there is no risk factors are present. Colonoscopy is a edoscopic procedure, in which the flexible scope is introduced in to the colon to visualize inner surface and to identify polyps, ulcers, strictures and so on .

2. Flexible sigmoidoscopy -every 5-10 years

3. CT- colonoscopy done for every 5 years for persons with family history.

Persons with family history of adenoma:

1. History of adenoma or Colorectal cancer for first degree relatives considered high risk. Colonoscopy should be performed at 40years or 10 years earlier than age at diagnosis of cancer for thier relative. They should perform colonoscopy at 5 years interval.

2. Persons with history of ulcerative colitis,intestinal polyps, malabsorption syndrome, previous history of cancer should perform colonoscpy every year.
