There are number of vegetables like tomatoes, carrots, peas, pumpkins, turnips which are rich source of vitamins and fibers and helps during cancer. The cruciferous vegetables like broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage etc. also contain plant chemicals which help in converting the bad oestrogen into good and reduce risk to cancer. The asparagus and brussel sprouts are rich in anti-oxidants. Cancer can cause a condition called as hypercalcemia where it leads to high levels of blood calcium. The excessive release of calcium is majorly seen in cancers like multiple myeloma or leukemia which affects the bone and it leads to bone to break down causing the spread of the excess calcium into the blood. However, it is also known that calcium might reduce the risk of colorectal cancer by binding to bile acids and fatty acids in the gastrointestinal tract and form insoluble complex called calcium soaps. This has the tendency to reduce the acid to damage cells in colon lining and stimulate cell proliferation helping in damage repair.
The Vitamin D level is known to lower the occurrence of cancer. It is found that with high amount of Vitamin D in blood, it has a role to play in reducing the risk of colon, breast, prostate and ovarian cancer.
