hello, please tell me what you think about my twi discussion post about intelligence

DISCUSSION 1

I believe genes do not determine intelligence. Intelligence and genes have very little to do with one another. Genes are what give us our traits such as; eye color and hair color. Knowledge and information develop and grows over time. As an example, two intelligent parents have two children, one that goes to school and one that does not. The child that can develop and learn regularly through the school will be more intelligent than the one without schooling. Learning at young ages helps develop each part of the brain as the brain grows. So without a stimulating learning environment, certain parts of the brain would not develop as well as if the child was in school. Also, if two parents were not able to go to school themselves, but send their children to school to learn, the children would be able to gain intelligence just like everyone else. Teachers, parents, and policymakers need to understand that a person's intelligence is not one-sided. Children need to be able to grow in a stimulating environment so they can learn and become intelligent adults. Also, each child is different. So a school may help one child, but the same school may not be an enriching environment for other's needs.

DISCUSION 2

Through a series of conversations alongside multiple readings, it is unfair to state that ones intelligence is solely pre-determined through genetics. Our genes have proven to be a part of the way one consumes knowledge, but this knowledge should not be limited to a capacity as a result of genetic makeup; rather, it is important to analyze the environment and willingness of an individual to obtain knowledge. The brain is one of the most complex organs, its ability to create stronger neural pathways as it learns new things proves that is is possible to always strengthen ones intelligence. As a result of this, some have greater accessibility to obtaining a better education with greater resources, and stable households that foster a learning environment; ultimately, some individuals are placed at a greater advantage than those who do not have the same accessibility.

This information is vital for educators and mentors because it is necessary that people look at individuals holistically, rather than establishing an opinion on an individuals intelligence based on their genetic makeup. For example, if intelligence was solely based off of genetics, society would have never been able to advance intellectually. Over time and generations, society has been able to progress forward and so can humans intellectual ability.
