Expert Solution

  • Internalized oppression happens when the person who is being targeted with all the negativity and hate starts to experience inferiority, that they are the problem and consider themselves worthless.A major example of this is women. When women start to believe the lies of all those who are oppressing them about their role in society, their status in the world, thats when the oppression is internalized.
  • Sexism is highly prevalent in our society and women are made to feel inferior in almost everything. One example is related to skin colour.Fair skin obsession is something which has increased over the years.Women who are dark skinned are not really considered "beautiful",whether its celebrities or normal women, they face this discrimination and because of this form of oppression some dark skinned women around the world have started to hate their skin colour and obsessively opting for skin treatments and creams for fairness.
  • The constant shaming of dark skinned women by people on social media, has made these women question themselves and their beauty. They have started to believe that because of their skin colour, they wouldnt find a job, wont get married etc.Their life is worthless. This represents internalized oppression.
