Emotional intelligence deals with how well you are in tune with your and others' emotions. For a leader to succeed, he should have a good understanding of human emotions. Followers are can be emotional. But leaders or managers should know how to manage them. For managing them, an excellent understanding of emotions and self-control is necessary.

In today's world, emotional intelligence has more importance than it had had earlier. Politicians, celebrities, athletes etc. are becoming more aware of the use of emotional intelligence. These are professions that is largely dependent on public support. You cannot be a politician or actor or a good athlete if people don't like you. Of course, you may become one but not probably popular. For gaining attention from the public, you must understand public's emotions and an ability to manage them. Most of the high-profile professions like the ones mentioned will have professionals training them in these matters. Many of them even have their public relations team who will manage how they should be in public situations.

A historical figure that I can contemplate now is Adolf Hitler. He was said to be a man who had very high emotional intelligence. Of course, he might not have been empathetic. He used his understanding of emotions to engage his followers. There are many statements that he was very persuasive during his speeches and he used his emotions to control others. After hearing his speech, people were said to forego their rationality and acted according to Hitler's will. Thus, he had managed the emotions of his followers and gained control over them.

In my case, self-awareness has the highest score. Self-awareness deals with how you feel inside. How every emotion originate and how you can manage them effectively. Like you are feeling the way you feel. Once you understand this, you will be able to understand why people feel the way they feel as well. This is necessary for management.

My lease developed emotional intelligence skill is social skill or relationship management skill. For improving this, I need to learn to be more effective at communication. I practice talking to people daily. With practice, I know that it will come. Praising people for the good things they did and resolving their conflicts and issues are ways by which social skills can be developed.
