How do you ensure that learning experiences that you design for adults matches up with the assumptions of andragogy?
The method of andragogy is the practice utilized for teaching adult learners and explores adult education to them. To ensure better learning experiences it is required to design the principles of andragogy for the better learning process to adults so that they can get the education at their desired level.
Principles of andragogy are as follows:
1. Self-concept
2. Experience
3. Readiness
4. Time perspective
5. Learning orientation
6. Motivation
The adult learners are self-directed; they use their prior experiences to learning things with the realistic concept. They show a constant focus on learning and keep the attitude of readiness to learn anything. Applying new knowledge at an instant is the specialty of the adult learners. They always intended towards the best quality of problem-based learning’s and having the motivation of learning new things. Thus, it is the character that resembles the adult learners with a better teaching for extending constructive education.
Therefore, the learning process design should be realistic and must contain valuable points based on the learning materials, so that the andragogy principle for exploring adult teaching must meet its needs to fulfill their process of quality education. As the adult is having the set of knowledge, to meet with their standards it is necessary to design the teaching process flexible in terms of concept and sharing of valid knowledge. It is necessary to uplift with their standard as per their experiences so to make the process better.
To identify the matchup it is required to validate the principles of andragogy while engaging into the learning experiences and also it is required to take the feedback from them by observing their interactions while engaging into the process. If the interactions are comfortable with the design made for the adult learning process and with the standard of delivering the best teaching methods, the adult will also respond positively as they will definitely get to know about the right way of teaching because they will be carrying minimum years of experiences. Also, it should validate with the principles of andragogy. From their interactions, conversations, and feedback about the teaching process, it can be predicted that the design for adult teaching is matching with the assumptions of andragogy.
