To have a successful organization it is very important to focus on training and development of employees. It is likely anyone who use e-learning can tell that how beneficial and impactful it is. In todays, continuous learning environment, e-learning provides benefits for both organization as well as employees. E-Learning or electronic learning is defined as delivering learning and training through digital resources. It is a formalized learning and it is provided with the help of digital devices such as computers, tablets, mobile phones that are connected with internet. This makes it easy for the learners to learn anytime, anywhere with few or no restrictions. Therefore, it must be implemented in every organization.

Establishment of E-Learning in an Organization to ensure maturity of an organization’s “human capital”

Before implementing E-Learning in the organization, it is very important that how ready the organization is to accept this type of learning. This aspect of readiness includes the employee’s ability to adapt the technological challenges and accept self paced training as they are the human capital of an organization. They possess skill and knowledge with the help of which goods and services are produced.

  • Psychological readiness: It is very important to judge the attitude of the employee in a training session considering whether they are behaving indifferently or believes that training is useless as per their job roles. This helps us to design the e-learning program in such a way that it gives them an exposure in their current job responsibility.
  • Social Readiness: This helps us to know that how the employee is social and interactive with other employees. This influences their ability to learn in a collaborative environment and on the basis of which e-learning program is established in an organization.
  • Environment Readiness: There are certain external and internal factors that influence e-learning. Legal issues also be considered before dealing with e-learning such as contract issues or policy, intellectual property, language and cultural need of an employee.
  • Human Resource Readiness: The Human Resource should have access to all staff whether external or internal. The internal staff to train the employee and external staff with vendors who can train the employee if internal staff is not available. This will help us to ensure that the employees must receive training to develop their skills and knowledge so that they can perform their job effectively and efficiently.
  • Technological Readiness: This indicates the level of skills the employees contains to handle the technology that e-learning requires. If there is a lack of knowledge in them then they will feel conscious from finishing the course or even starting the course. So, this will help us to establish e-learning program on the basis of employee's skill set.
  • Content Readiness: The content of the e-learning program should be present in such a way that it is easy to understand and can be converted to e-learning modules. The organization need to assess the content which is available with them to make a better judgment. This will help us to establish e-learning program which is less repetitive and helps us to engage employee in more appropriate way.

E-Learning has not only fulfilled the purpose in providing training by applying technology to learning but also contributing to skill development and human resource growth in organization. A balanced employee satisfies all types of customers whether external or internal. A motivated and trained employee can turn an average organization into a cultural force and also help in generating revenues by delivering the same knowledge to the customer which he/she receives in training sessions.
