Imagine you work for a large computer software company and you have been offered an opportunity to propose a leadership training model to your company’s CEO and executive staff. What would it look like and how would you present this model? What steps would you use to determine the leadership needs of the company? Which employees would be candidates for this leadership training opportunity and how would they be selected?
The first step in the process will be to identify the leadership needs of the comany. The fisrt thing to do with is discuss the organizational strtegies and expectations from the new leaders with the CEO. There will be consultations with the other key people as well as focus group discussion with existing leaders will be conducted.
As for deciding which cndidates will be eligible for the traininig needs will be determined with the following ways:
1. Blake and Mouta's leadership model will be used to identify the potential candidtes
2. A questionnaire will be designed based on the intractions and focus group discussions anf given to the potential candidates with different scenarios specific to the company and candidates will be chosen based on their responses.
For desigining the leadership training, Hershey and Blanchard's Situational leadership model will be used as a basis for the training model. Trainees will be intoduced to the concept of authentic leadership and transactional and transformational leadership. These concepts will be used to design a traning model and this model will be presented in a way that it answers the specifics relating to the organizational strategy for the next few years and how each of these methods will be able to bridge the gap between the existing state of the leaders and the post training skills they will acquire.
