Write an analysis of an experience you have had with stereotyping, prejudice or discrimination. You could have witnessed the discriminatory behavior, been the target, or inadvertently stereotyped or discriminated against someone else.

Stereotypes are beliefs about how members of a particular group look like. Stereotype is a cognitive component. We have a positive or a negative beliefs about members of  particular groups.

Prejudice involves our emotional reactions or feelings towards a particular group. Some people have negative attitudes towards particular groups.

Discrimination is our behaviour directed towards a particular group.Some groups are treated badly compared to other.

We have beliefs about different traits or attributes possessed by males and females. It is called as gender stereotypes. According to this women are viewed as not competent or not suitable for mechanical jobs. It has some negative effects. I have witnessed one of my friend is not selected for a mechanical job because she is a female . She is not selected for that job because women are not viewed as suitable for this job compared to men.

Gender discrimination we can see in many sectors. Women are are being paid with less wages for the same work they have done compared to men.

Prejudice is the negative feeling towards a particular groups. We show different emotional reactions toward different groups.Prejudice against lesbians can be seen in Us society. It is a prejudice based on sexual orientation. Prejudice based on race ,colour and gender are also common. One of my friend is disliked by her colleagues because she belongs to a particular race.Her colleagues have negative emotions towards her race.

Discrimination based on disability also very common. One of my friend is not appointed for a job because she is disabled.

Prejudice, discrimination and stereotyping can be seen in many areas of present society . Particular groups are mistreated or they don't have access to some resources or jobs due to prejudice exist in society. Many groups are not equally treated when compared to other groups due to stereotypes. So we can say that a prejudice,discrimination and stereotypes affect many people adversely. Stereotypes and prejudice can be viewed as threat to many people in our society. So,we should take vigorous efforts to end the discriminations exist in our society.
