What experience did you have where you had an ethical and moral responsibility to hold as a nurse?
Ethical principles always provide a framework for nurses to engage in ethical decision making.It consists of beneficence, nonmaleficence, autonomy, justice, veracity, fidelity, and integrity. Ethics rules dictate that a nurse must manifest a positive role of the character, meaning her virtuous character extends beyond the workplace and into her personal life. Ethics in nursing offers a framework to help them ensure the safety of patients and their fellow healthcare providers.
Ethical and moral responsibilities that i had experienced as nurse that are mentioned below. These are the principles. It plays important role of conduct during professional nursing.
Beneficence: Acting for the good and welfare of others
Nonmaleficence: Acting in such a way as to prevent harm to others.
Autonomy: Recognizing the individual’s right to self-determination and decision-making.
Justice: Acting in fairness to all individuals, treating others equally, and showing all individuals the same degree of respect and concern.
Veracity: Being truthful, trustworthy, and accurate •
Fidelity: Being loyal and faithful to individuals who place trust in the nurse.
Integrity: work with honesty and consistently in the work place.
Moral responsibilities of nurse to advocate and protects the rights, health, and safety of the patient. The nurse has authority, accountability, and responsibility for nursing practice; makes decisions; and takes action consistent with the obligation to promote health and to provide optimal care.
