Using intrinsic and Extrinsic Motivation as factor. Describe a situation you have experienced where motivation has positively influenced an employee's performance in the workplace.
Intrinsic and extrinsic motivation.
Intrinsic motivation is the desire to excel in their job and feel a sense of deep and personal satisfaction when accomplished a task. The individual will raise his self esteem through this motivation.
Extrinsic motivation factors come from the external world to the employees such as rewards, bonus, increments, a car, a promotion etc. All these are external in nature but has a very productive effect among the employees. This kind of motivation will financially encourage the employees for their best contribution and productivity.
In my personal experience of leading the team for a tough and challenging project , I witnessed that both these aspects in separation or together has a tremendous effect on the individuals.
One of my team member usually a normal working one found my new project was very interesting and challenging. It was so challenging that he wanted to be a sincere part of the project. After many discussion with the individual, I found that he was knowledge thirsty but did not have the financial resources to attain the pinnacle and so was comprised with what ever job he was doing.
Knowing about his interest in learning and trying to update and upgrade himself, I offered to him that I would sponsor for his higher studies if he committed to work hard and sincerely contribute to the project.
This offer of mine acted as an intrinsic factor to the individual and he fully committed himself for the project. His efforts and results were amazing towards the project and he was applauded for his sincerity.
Even though working in a team his involvement and contribution was extraordinary. He worked the major parting the project and made it a huge success
As promised I sponsored for his higher studies that he acquired in his part time free time . He was given a cash price and promotion which was for his efficient productivity throughout the project.
The team member became the standing example to prove that both intrinsic and extrinsic factors can increase positivity in an employee's workplace and lives.
