Describe a workplace situation in which fallacious reasoning caused both unnecessary conflict and expense. Conclude with a recommendation to ensure a similar problem doesn't reoccur.
One of the workplace situations that involved fallacious reasoning which caused unnecessary conflict was a situation in my firm where the product line that focused on blogs was subject to one. The product line had seen a decline in the number of impressions on their page. The views were decreasing and the rationale was that the team focused more on the quantity and failed to improve the quality of the articles. After making this conclusion, the manager still expected the content team to deliver more articles instead of focusing on the quality which led to a conflict between the team and the manger's methods. A few members voiced their opinion on the matter as the reasoning to continue doing the same thing was fallacious. The manager literally ignored the causes due to the reduction in quality and still focused on the quantity.
My recommendation to avoid this situation would be to make the manager understand that we mitigate the causes by addressing them instead of ignoring them. The meeting to identify the causes should have been clear in finding a solution to the decrease in the number of impressions. Failing to act is not rational in this situation. To avoid this situation from happening again, the employee's feedback to the management would be necessary and in making a change to find a competent leader.
