1) Using the five conflict-handling strategies and examples from a typical workplace, describe a situation when each strategy would be a good choice for managing a conflict. (Forcing, Problem solving, Avoiding, Yielding, Compromising)
I would take my own example, I was working with Accenture, in project management department. There we worked peaceful;y until a day when it was announced that it would be competitive game, which gorup is attracting more no. of clients, for this daily working meeting was made compulsary, in which you have to provide the updates. And searching project was made - targets were also given which were high, initially we all resisted saying that we cannot work peacefully and concentrate on our own skills. But we made calls, made presentation asking clients to submit us work.
Consequenctly we got work which didn't needed our support or our skill set, we were to book conference rooms etc, and some petty tasks were given to us instead of managing project budget or the other side. Since we though that this is not our type of work, we started getting frustrated when huge amount of such petty work used to come such as booking hotels, managing breakfast instead of working on Microsoft projects or excel. We started avoiding and complaining about the work to our seniors, as we were not ble to concentrate on skills sets.
Then it was discussed with the clients that such tasks didn't needed our support, more recruitment was done and projects were sorted as per the skill set, some people who like admin tasks were given that work. And finally it was also decided to have team which consists of admin as well as management pool, and basic training should be given to each member of the both. Incase if any empoyee is absent the work should not stop.
