Workplace Safety

The history of organized labor and the rights they enjoy at the present times not evolved within a fraction of time instead it is formed as a cumulative effects of the events in the past. The nature and power of the organized labor is formed as a outcome of the historical tension among the counter forces, which involves the rights at the workplaces, the wages which they have paid, the labor laws and the others. One of the first effective labor organization noted is the Labor organization of Knights, which was formed in the year 1869. In 1881, the year marked as an important stone in the progress of this because of the formation of the National Labor union. The creation of union aims at the encouragement given to the formation of the unions and which in turn seeks for the prohibition of the child labor, the limiting of the work hours{ mainly aims at eight hour work per day}, and the banishment of foreign labors who were brought there by the contract, for example the Chinese workers. The Pullman strike was one of the most noted strike that occurred against the cut of wages for the employees at the time of economic depression. And the strike at coal fields in the years 1901-1902 accounts finally for higher wages with a reduction in the working hours.

But now these conditions are completely changed and provided with a better conditions in the job. And many laws has enacted to ensure the safety of employees and their rights to organize. The National Labor Relations Act, passed in 1935 has provided with such rights to employees. And it gives the collective bargaining power to them along with the right to organize. Now there also exists laws to prevent from the discrimination in the employment sector or in the firm. Both the first and fourteenth constitutional Amendments gives the right to every citizen to protect his stand in this issue. And every one must be considered equal before the law.
