a) Emotional ambivalence is having both positive and negative feeling simultaneously towards an action , initiative person or group .
Closure of a group is maintaining the exclusivity of group as against other group .
Emotional ambivalence is very common and happens to everyone at some point of time . It may create discomfort for group and make closure of group difficult . However , if ambivalence is of mild degree then it is easy to deal and does not poses great challenge .
A person in ambivalence stands at fence and is unable to decide whether to continue as a member of group or leave . This involves hig level of reasoning and thought which might be beneficial for group .
b) It is important because it happen to everyone and not easy to resolve .
Moreover ,recent researches have pointed towards its benefit as well apart from its negative consequences.
Some researches have concluded that despite causing discomfort , ambivalences can be helpful in Improving creativity . Thus , A group can benefit from creativity generated through it .
c) Ambivalence in extremity can cause severe damage to relationship , personality and decision making ability. . Thus it needs special steps toward resolving it.
First , person in dilemma should be encouraged to choose one option focusing on heart rather than mind . He should try to feel which option is closer to his values morals and interests.
Once he choose one option , there will be some negative co sequence of choosing that . As per theory of cognitive dissonance , when one chooses one option over the other then he tries to rationalize his decision by highlighting positive of choosing option and underplaying other option . This will help resolve ambivalence in most efficient way.
