why do Public Relation professionals use emotional appeals?

Solutions

Expert Solution

Here, emotional appeal can be described as using emotions in favor of the consumers as well as the market players rather than against them. By using the emotional appeal public relation professionals attract the target audience and consequently build their brand confidence. Understanding what matters to the audience and making that a key part of the message helps the company to be more persuasive. This can be done in the following ways;

  • empathizing with the clients
  • writing connotative taglines to provoke a desired emotional reaction
  • showing genuine interest in the well-being of the clients and coworkers
  • demonstrating understanding and care about others’ values

Emotions are a powerful motivator and emotional campaigns can heavily influence buyer behavior. They can help increase sales. One of the most famous examples of emotional appeal is Always’ Like a Girl campaign. This campaign contrasts the perceptions of the public about how young girls run, throw a baseball or fight, naturally. It captures anger and frustration of that perception and channels it into an inspirational message that girls are powerful regardless of the prevailing stereotypes. Whether right or wrong, awareness can make all the difference. The strongest arguments appeal to each potential consumer, though not necessarily equally.
