1.Squamous epithelial cells are flat, round and central nucleus with slightly irregular covering. Organized in single layer are called as simple squamous epithelia which usually covering or lining the organs and facilitate diffusion like gas exchange, exchange of nutrients and waste.
2. Startified squamous epithelium is of multiple layers of squamous epithelium cells. They function as protective tissues and found in organs of wear and tear.
3. Cuboidal epithelial cells are cube shaped cells as name indicates with singal nucleus centrally located mostly found in a single layer in glandular tissues which secrete out glandular material. It is also located in tubules and in the ducts of the kidney and liver.
4. Columnar epithelial are taller than wide as like cuboidal. Usually arranged in single layer fashion. They are found in GI tract to absorb material from the lumen of the digestive tract.
