which of the following cell types would secrete reticular fibers within the connective tussue of the spleen?
a. stem cells
b.fibroblasts
c.chondroblasts
d.reticular cells
e.mesenchyme cells

Solutions

Expert Solution

Human Kidney, spleen , bone marrow have the reticular fibres.

Stem cells: Most unique cell we have. From stem cell we can produce various other tissues and organs. But it doesnot secrete the reticular fibre . Hence it is not correct.

Fibroblast: It helps in the formation of the extracellular matrix . It doesnot secrete reticular fibres . So it is not right option.

Chondroblast: This type of cells secretes collagen which form the extracellular matrix. It doesnot secrete reticular fibre. Hence it is also wrong.

Reticular cell: Reticular cell secretes the reticular fibre and hence is named so. The unique feature of reticular fibre is that it is surrounded by the cytoplasm of the reticular cells.

So it is the right answer.

Mesenchymal cell: This type of cell are found in the bone marrow. These cell secretes various antibody. It can be defferentiate to form other cells. It doesnot secrete the reticular fibres.

The reticular fibre is only secreted by reticular cells hence the right answer is RETICULAR CELLS.
