Explanation :

Epithelial tissue forms the external covering of body and many internal organs. It acts as a physical barrier against foreign agents. It can be of two types - Simple and Stratified. Simple epithelium consists of a single layer and is involved in functions such as secretion, absorption,etc. mainly. Stratified epithelium on the other hand is composed of more than one layer of cells and is thus mainly involved in function of protection and acts as a barrier.

Option 1 is correct because it is the only type of tissue which is stratified . As the name suggests , stratified squamous means that multiple layers are present in this type of tissue .Due to the presence of multiple layers, it will obviously be more protective than the other. Stratified squamous epithelium is found in oral cavity, oesophagus, etc. where it acts as a barrier and reduced friction.

Option 2 is incorrect since simple squamous epithelium is composed of a single layer and is thus less protective than stratified squamous epithelium. Simple squamous epithelium is involved in the functions of diffusion of compounds and filtration of compounds. It is lines the air sacs of the lungs, forms the inner walls of the capillaries, etc.

Dense regular connective tissue are composed of Type I collagen fibres which are densely packed against one another. The collagen fibres are thick and are closely packed. Tight packing offers the ability to sustain extreme stress and force. Ligaments are found between bones where they join one bone with another and connect a joint. So a strong and dense regular connective tissue can be found in the ligaments which can withstand high stress during extreme body movements.
