  1. For the following hormones released from the hypothalamus, list the hormone it triggers from the anterior pituitary and that hormone’s action at its target cell. (1 pt)
    1. Prolactin releasing hormone
    2. Thyrotropin releasing hormone
    3. Corticotropic releasing hormone
    4. Gonadotropin releasing hormone

Solutions

Expert Solution

a)prolacrin releasing hormone (PRH) released from the Hypothalamus act on the Anterior pituitary and release Prolactin Hormone

Function of prolactin is

1.stimulate Milk production

2.Development of Breast

b)Tyrotropin releasing hormone act on the Anterior pituitary and produce Thyroid stimulating Hormone (TSH).

Function of TSH is

it act on the Thyroid Gland and stimulate the production of T3 and T4 hormone.

3.Corticotropic releasing hormone act on the Anterior pituitary and release Adrenocorticotropic Hormone (ACTH)

ACTH act on the Adrenal cortex and secrete cortisol hormone

4.Gonadotropin releasing Hormone act on the Anterior pituitary gland and produce follicular stimulating hormone (FSH) and Leutinising Hormone (LH) .

Both these hormones act on the gonads.

in male it act on the testis. FSH will act on the sertoli cell of the testis and LH act on the leydigs cell of teh testis and produce Testosterone .

In female ,FSH act on the ovary and help in the maturation of primordial. follicle .

LH hormone help in the ovulation .
