Tropic hormones are hormones that have other endocrine glands as
their target. Tropic Hormones are produced by Anterior Pituitary
glands.Following are the tropic hormones produced by anterior
Pituitary:
- Thyroid stimulating Hormones (TSH) also known
as thyrotropin.The Major function of this hormone
is to stimulate thyroid gland to make and release thyrod
hormones
- Adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH) also known
as corticotropin. The function of this hormone is
to stimulate the adrenal cortex to release glucocorticoids.
- Luteinizing Hormone(LH) –It stimulates the
release of steroid hormones in gonads –the ovary and testes
- Follicle stimulating Hormones (FSH)- It
stimulates the maturation of eggs and production of sperms
- Growth Hormones(GH)- As the name indicates,
this hormones Promotes growth
- Prolactin (PRL)- Also known as luteotropic
Hormone or luteotropin. This is a kind of protein which stimulates
production of milk after childbirth
