Discuss in detail how you believe a systems approach to organizations development could benefit your organization.
A system approach proposes that an
organization is a system that is built up of different components
that are interdependent upon each other. Here, the system is
improved, when the different components are made to improve. Only
working upon the few parts, will not help the organization to
achieve the objective. So, the organizational development program
should adapt system approach to bring overall development. For
example, to expand the business into the new areas and audience, It
is not a need to improve the marketing & sales effort that
brings business development or new orders, but also, it requires a
production function to build capabilities to increase production
levels and quality, HR function to hire talented employees and
finance function to procure funds to purchase the factors of
production. Hence, different types of development of different
components (functions), will combine together as part of the
organizational development, that will benefit the
organization.
On a similar note, implementation of technology or quality
management practices, should take place on the basis of system
approach where each function or department works to implement the
new technology or quality drive, so that whole organization brings
improvement. Therefore, a system approach in organizational
development is mandatory for the benefits of the
organization.
If the overall development as a system approach is not considered,
then one or another function will act as a bottleneck and an
organization will not be benefited.
