Four types of operant conditioning:
1) Positive reinforcement:
Any stimulus that strengthens behavior , by it's appearance following a response is called positive reinforcement. For example ,food may serve as a positive reinforcer when you are hungry.
2) Negative reinforcement:
Reinforcers that strengthen behaviours by it's dissappearance are called negative reinforcement. For example , if a child is scollded for not cleaning his mouth after eating sweets , he after the scolding cleans his mouth.
3) Positive punishment:
It involves the presentation of a painful event after the occurance of an undesired response. For example , When we misbehave elder person and our parents punish us.
4) Negative punishment:
It is the loss of reinforcement for a specified period of time, contingent upon the occurance of an inappropriate behaviour. For example, Rita get low mark in her subjects , because of spending more time in chatting ,so her mother takes her cellphone away.
