Three types of learnt behaviors:
1. Behaviors learnt through classical conditioning: Many behaviors are learnt through classical conditioning. This involves learning by association. When an unconditioned stimulus eliciting an unconditioned response becomes associated with a neutral stimulus, the neutral stimulus becomes a conditioned stimulus eliciting a conditioned response. For example, you ate a grilled cheese sandwich which was spoilt and hence caused food poisoning. Now every time you look at a grilled cheese sandwich, it makes you nauseated.
2. Behaviors learnt through operant conditioning: Behaviors can also be learned through operant conditioning. in operant conditioning, learning takes place by the consequences that follow a behavior. For example, every time a child throws a tantrum, his mother buys him a chocolate. Thus the child learns that throwing a tantrum gets him a chocolate.
3. Behaviors learnt through observational learning: Simply observing other people in behaving in particular ways can also cause us to learn that behavior. For example, children learn how to talk by observing their parents.
