1. Identify two other systems that are closely related to the respiratory system. You should describe the anatomical relationship, as well as the functional relationship between your two chosen systems and the respiratory system.
2. Identify the primary differences in the way that oxygen and carbon dioxide are transported within the blood.
(1) The two other systems that are closely related to respiratory system are Cardiovascular system and circulatory system.
* Anatomical relationship is that from respiratory system the blood after getting purified transported to the left atrium of heart via pulmonary veins and they reach to left ventricule ( cardio vascular system) then transported to various parts of the body by the (Circulatory system) which comprises of arteries.
* Functional relationship is that all the system viz. Respiratory system, Cardiovascular system, Circulatory system are mainly involved in transportation of oxygen and nutrients to various parts of the body.
(2) Oxygen is transported in blood by two mechanism i.e Bound oxygen 98% that is bound to hemoglobin , Dissolved oxygen 2%.
Whereas carbon dioxide is transported in blood by three mechanisms i.e Hemoglobin bound 20%, Dissolved carbon dioxide 10%, Bicarbonate 70%.
This is primary difference in the transportation of oxygen and carbon dioxide in the blood.
