Discuss the proper and professional use of digital communication in the workplace such as email, social media, text messaging, and instant messaging. Employers have the challenge of regulating the use of digital communication to protect the best interest of the organization.
Many businesses and individuals have gotten in trouble or experienced a public relations disaster for failing to practice good email and social media etiquette. For this assignment do the following:
Find an example online of an individual who got in trouble, or got a business in trouble, for using poor email or social media practices.
Provide a link to the source where you found the story of the individual/business.
Identify and fully discuss which concepts and/or practices from the lesson apply to the situation.
Proper use of communication is very significant in any organisation. It helps in creating a foundation for relationship with outside organisation and within organisation. It build image about the company. Many companies failed in this segment basically because of lack of controlling and monitoring, lack of proper skillset on interpersonal communication and mail etiquitte, One such example of poor mail can be desribed through company called Csafe ( they are into container leasing for cold supplychain). One of their sales team manager sent a mail to their client in a very casual tone which they treated as a disrespect and cancelled the entire order. Thus the company had to suffer a huge loss as they were one of their major client. Here lack of proper usage of words or lack capability to convey the message is the major problem.
Inorder to meet the requirements on how to effectiveley communicsate using email, social medai and other messaging system the company has to design their own communication structure. This helps everybody to follow the norms, policies and make them bounded with the same. Proper training and development, Create a feedback process, communication process can reduce the rate of failure on such cases.Adding the right skill set on communication helps organisation to foster relationship with everyone.
