Communication plays a vital rol when it comes to healthcare, as it only prevents medical error it also improves the quality of care.

COMMUNICATION METHODS TO USE IN THE HEALTHCARE :

VERBAL:

Verbalisation is the common most practice which everyone follows, however it also has its pros and cons, it is less time consuming and effective most of the time, however if there is a barrier such as the language it may not be as effective as we think, another thing is that the noise it can also acts as barrier when it comes to verbal communication, and also the accent should be clear.

NON - VERBAL :

Non - verbal communication such as written is also effective but is time consuming, however if the physician is prescribing a medication for a patient over a phone and its not clear it is always encouraged to ask him to spell it and you can write it down, It also prevents medications error such as look alike sound alike drugs which is in the store.

BODY LANGUAGE :

Body language includes use of body posture, facial expression, hands/leg movement to communicate with the patient or colleague, it is a type of non - verbal communication.
