Process excellence is more about people than systems. To achieve process excellence, appropriate process change is needed. The five ways to incorporate and assist process change are as follows:
1. Planning is the first step; a communications plan must be drafted. The plan must include the message to be conveyed and the ways that will be used for communication.
It must also have the time frame of communication.
2. You must know your audience; who are going to be process owners. Explain to them your intention; the kind of help you would need from them and how you plan to do the work.
3. Even after identifying your audience, make sure you communicate with as many people as you can. Be careful about taking everybody’s opinion in loop so that the process change is not affected negatively.
4. You must have a good rapport with your audience. You must know them personally and understand their personalities. This will help you to deal better with them and as a result they will cooperate better.
5. The communication must be a regular practice. The idea behind this is it might take time for the audience to understand your vision. Consistent communication is a must to drive home your point.
These will make process change easy and effective thereby helping you accomplish process excellence.
