Six sigma is a technique which was introduced by Bill Smith who is an engineer in 1986. It is a tool for process improvement and also improvement of the quality of the output. It removes the causes of defects. People who are expert in these methods creates a special infrastructure within the organization. Each six sigma project has specific value target. For example:- reduces pollution, reduces costs, increases customer satisfaction etc. All opportunities to be produced in six sigma process is one in which 99.99966%, some defects are expected to be defect free. In present era Microsoft again utilizes six sigma for making improvements to the organization. Their aim was a continuous improvement in culture of the organization. Six sigma has multiple techniques. This is the key for achieving success for any company. Companies wants to implement six sigma because it manages time, improves customers loyalty, reduces cycle time, motivates employees, strategic planning and last but not the least supply chain management.
