Steps to address issues relating to attendance

1) Have the compliance policy well documented, including the implications. A business would have written the requirements of the emplyees, and checked them through legal counsel. Getting a clearly defined strategy saves the organization against some form of favoritism and tells the Unemployment Agency that they felt they were put into consideration.

2) Alert the employee as soon as he becomes concerned about tardiness or absence. When an absence or multiple is a problem, the employee engages and tells them that the activity will not be accepted.

3) Work out a serious dialogue on the subject. There might be a solvable problem the person wants assistance; taking care of a loved one, or a question focused on abuse. The organization is now in a position to help.

4) Make arrangements where possible, but keep objectives transparent. Maybe an updated timetable would require fewer tardies or absences for the employee. The new standards and consequences will be transparent, particularly as changes are made.

5) Scaling up or elimination of discliplinary behavior. Unless the prior actions are insufficient, it will have to enact repercussions. Continued tardiness and/or absence inevitably leads to termination.
