please i need to have good answers and easy to understand

This exercise refers to the Develop Schedule process. Please answer the following questions.

  1. Describe the difference between crashing and fast tracking.
  2. During Schedule Development, resources are assigned to the project activities. Describe resource leveling heuristics and why and when you use this technique.
  3. What are the advantages and disadvantages of using project management software?

Solutions

Expert Solution

1) Crashing and Fast-tracking both are resource levelling technique used in project development.

Definitions:

Fast-tracking: It means the activities in the project are worked on simultaneously instead of waiting for each piece to be completed separately. Fast-tracking can be applied only when the activities in the project can be overlapped.

Crashing: In this technique resources are added to the project with the least cost possible. This technique is usually used when the project is not on the schedule.

Difference:

Fast-tracking involves doing the activities in parallel, whereas crashing involves the addition of resources to the project.

Fast-tracking increases the risk whereas the crashing increase the cost of the project.

Fast-tracking can be used only when activities can be overlapped but the crashing can be used in any activity.

2) Develop Project Schedule has two resource optimization techniques called resource levelling and resource smoothing.

Resource Levelling: Resource Levelling is the technique in which start and finish dates are adjusted based on resource constraint with the goal of balancing the demand for resources with available supply.

We use this technique when the shared and critical resources required for the project are available only defined times or when they are over-allocated etc.

As described above resource levelling is used when the resources are not freely available and they are busy with another task.

We have to use resource levelling because it helps to understand the constraint present in the allocation of resources and all also help to get the correct estimation of starting and ending dates of the project with resources available and there cost also.

3)Advantages and disadvantages of using project management software.

Project management software is widely used by organization to optimize the process ensuring that they offer the highest level of efficiency and effectiveness throughout the company.

The main advantages of project management software are

1) Managing the cost of the project. It is one of the important tasks to be done in every project.

2) Ability to manage risks, forecasting and budgets. Getting to know about these is one of the best advantages of project management software.

3) Reporting capabilities and real-time collaboration with the team members.

The main disadvantages of project management software are

1) The programs provided by project management software are costly

2) Modification of the software based on the requirement of the organisation. And selecting the one which suits the organisation needs.

3) The small organisation can't afford the project management software all features implementation.

I hope you got the answer and understand it. Thank you:):
