Even the normally blood-sucking females will feed efficiently in nature on a juicy watermelon rind.Even in the laboratory they can be kept alive for months on a diet of water-soaked raisins .Thus the mechanism of feeding is so unique that depending on the situation when there is a heavy demand of nutrient by them for mainly laying eggs,the same structure of sucking food may be used for a different food source without any modfications in it.
