As you are an Oral health educator, please discuss the importance of a Preventive Dental Unit in Oral health education to children.
Preventive dental unit essentially deals with the prevention dental diseases.
The importance of preventive dental unit are as follows:-
1.Screening and examination of children for dental and gum diseases.
2.Educating children on daily brushing (2 times a day).
3.Eucating children about the importance of flossing the teeth Everyday.
4.Use of mouth wash after eating.
5.Washing and cleaning teeth after eating hard candies and chocolates.
6.X-ray examination to detect tooth abnormalities.
7.Educating children about tooth decay and it's prevention.
8.Educating children on flouride treatment.
9.Educating children on cavity filling treatment for tooth decay.
10.Educating children on healthy oral habits to prevent teeth and gum disorders.
11.Education on diet to maintain healthy teeth and gums.
12.Routine examination for early detection of dental diseases.
13.Educating children about type of brush and tooth paste which limits injury to teeth.
14.Education on common causes of dental diseases.
15.Educating children regarding bad habits such as Thumb sucking, nail biting etc.
16.The importance of follow up activities after treatment.
