Answer the following questions about Windows registry:
1) Name at least four actions that trigger automatic registry changes.
2) Describe an indirect method of backing up the registry that backs up much more, as it creates a snapshot of the Windows installation minus the user's data. This also occurs on a regular basis by default in Windows.
3) In your own words define the Windows registry.
4) Describe the locations in Windows 10 of the options referred to in this chapter as user options and power options, comparing their location to where they were found in Windows 7.
5) Describe and compare Sleep and Hibernate.
6) Describe a safe method to modify the system startup settings for Windows.
7) Describe plug-and-play.
8) Your computer will not boot up normally and boots into Safe Mode. You suspect the problem is with a new device you installed. What utility should you open in Safe Mode and what should you look for?
9) What does it usually mean when Device Manager puts a device under a type node named "Other Devices?"
10) What will occur after you install a compatible driver for a device previously classified by Device Manager under Other devices?
1) Four actions that triggers the automatic registry changes are:
2) Indirect Method: You can also backup the registry with this method. Go directly to HKCU Software \ or HKLM \ and find the key that indicates the manufacturer of the application you want to backup.
3) Windows Registry- The Windows Registry is a hierarchical database that contains all of the configurations and settings used by components, services, applications, and pretty much everything in Windows .
5) Sleep mode=The sleep mode is a power saving state similar to pausing a DVD movie. All actions on the computer are stopped, any open documents and applications are reminded while the computer goes into a low-power state. The computer technically stays on, but uses only a small amount of power. You can quickly resume normal full-power operation within seconds. The sleep mode is essentially the same as the "Standby" mode. The sleep mode is useful if you want to stop working for a short time. The computer does not use much power in Sleep mode, but it does use some.
Hibernate mode=Hibernate mode is very similar to sleep, but instead of saving your open documents and running apps with your RAM, it saves them to your hard disk. This allows your computer to shut down completely, which means when your computer is in Hibernate mode, it uses zero power. When the computer is powered back on, it will restart everything you left off. It only takes a little longer to reboot than the sleep mode does (although with an SSD, the difference is not as noticeable as with traditional hard drives).Use this method if you have not been using your laptop for a long time, and do not want to close your documents.
6) Safe method to modify the system startup settings for Windows.
7) Plug-n-Play: Plug and Play (PnP) is a combination of hardware and software support that enables a computer system to recognize and adapt to hardware configuration changes without much user intervention.
8) After restarting the computer and entering into safe boot mode, you will find 4 different options- Minimal, Alternate shell, Active Directory Repair, and Network.
Under this click on Minimal which is the most useful utility to solve your problem.
9) When Device Manager puts a device under a type node named "Other Devices" it means that the device is not working properly. To fix this issue, obtain an updated driver for the device.
10) After you install a compatible driver for a device previously classified by Device Manager under Other devices it will no longer be called an Unknown device and its troubleshooting problem will be over.
If you are satisfied by my answer please give a thumbs up. Thank you. I did not give the answer to 4th question because i feel that information is incomplete for that question.
