Expert Solution

Verbal Communication: It is Means of Communication from one person to another when it is not apt to use non verbal communication. Communications is used to convey   informations from one person to another. It is not the verbal information only impact the relationship but also the way ihow it is communicated.

As per the scenario given above in respect of one to one or Small group situations:

Taking One to One situation where it is very familiar situation:

Example: Your reporting Manager ask you to do the task ( personal) and you are already overloaded with your routine task ( Official), being subordinate to him you are not interested in doing that task as it hamper your routine task and has no any future benefits ( Learnings) , because you are not in the good books of your reporting manager also. So you find it very apt to say " NO" for this task.

It has two Aspects If NO is not said clearly and it is not identifiable whether it is Yes or No , so it assigned the task finally to you. So accordingly verbal communication is very important to be very clear.

In second part where you said No and added if again same task ( personal) task assigned to him , he may complain to managerial level, here verbal communication is very clear but, way of react is in negative way that it may hamper their future senior - subordinate relation.

Suppose, He sai No, and put a simple excuse of he is already overloaded with routine task, and if possible for him after completing his routine task then he will think for the same. So accordingly here, he able to say NO for the personal task as well as his relations Senior - subordinates not holds grudges.

Taking Small Group  situation where it is very familiar situation:

In Small group situation where Four people are discussion over Cost benefit analysis, due to some points one person seems not happy with the decision of the analysis. Here Instead of Upfrontly saying NO while during the discussion may impact the relations and the discussion may also remain incomplete or may be decided without his presence. So here the verbal communication play vital role how you communicate as well as way you communicate.

Secondly if the disagreed person instead of upfrontly Saying NO and also add instead can we proceed like this will also helps in redducing cost increase our benefit. This may have different impact among the members of discussing house and their relationship will also remain helathy.
