1. Define the term defense mechanism.
2. Define three defense mechanisms
3. Provide a personal example when you used each of the three defense mechanisms defined above.
•Defense mechanisms are psychological strategies that are
unknowingly used to shield an individual from nervousness emerging
from unsatisfactory contemplations or sentiments.
• Defense mechanisms are practices individuals use to isolate
themselves from upsetting occasions, activities, or musings. 1.
Denial
Denial is one of the most widely recognized defense mechanisms. It
happens when you won't acknowledge reality or facts. You square
outside occasions or conditions from your brain so you don't need
to manage the emotional effect. At the end of the day, you keep
away from the agonizing emotions or events.
Example: I refused the proposal of a boy when I was in my tenth
standard . I used this mechanism to save myself from the
forthcoming emotional events after the acceptance.
2. Repression
Unpleasant considerations, difficult recollections, or nonsensical
convictions can agitate you. Rather than confronting them, you may
unknowingly decide to conceal them in hopes of overlooking them
totally.
Example : I really fear statures or heights. My parents say that in
my childhood days I tumbled off a swing , that ought to be the
reason behind my dread of heights .
3. Displacement
You direct compelling feelings and disappointments toward an
individual or item that doesn't feel undermining. This permits you
to fulfill a motivation to respond, yet you don't chance huge
outcomes.
Example : I frequently do this . I do this on my sibling at
whatever point I am baffled with something or stressed or something
like this . I realize this isn't right and I have been trying to
control it .
Thanks:)...
