According to my opinion, following are the personal traits desirable for mentoring new staff nurses/ trainees:

1.A positive attitude , confidence,responsibility, dedication, leadership qualities.

2.Willingness to share their skills and knowledge.

3.Should have a personal interest in mentoring.

4.Should havve enthusiasm.

According to me , following are the professional traits desirable for mentoring a staff nurses:

1. Emotional intelligence- mentor should work closely with their trainees which will help them to develop emotional intelligence.This will help them to withstand any stresses during their works.

2. Professional socialization-here the mentor should focus on how to develop a good rapport with patient.

3.Integrity-it is the main objective of mentor. Here they should focus on making right decisions during critical circumstances.

4. Respect-here mentor should show respect and win the respect of their trainees, and make them feel each and every patient should be respected.

5. Dedication-Mentor should be committed to their passion and should make them understand the value of this job and encouraging them to become more dedicated.

6 .Good communication skills-Mentor should help them to develop a good communication skills by teaching them how to communicate in different levels like with patient, support staff, doctors, senior executives.
