In my personal opinion, the three most important traits or characteristics for a medical office worker on the basis of qualities a person would need are as follows -
1. Empathy and respect for everone - We are told that every human should posses this quality but actually people lack empathy at their workplace. Since a medical office worker has a lot of burden on their shoulders and plays a very important role in care giving, it becomes very crucial that they understand what the other person is feeling. They are the one in direct contact with the physician as well as the patient and play a very vital role in overall communication. So, it becomes ver important for a medical office worker to understand the difficulty one is having and communicate exactly the same to the doctor.
2. Optimism - In any medical setting, optimisim is a key quality that one should posses. Let us say it's a very packed day for a medical office worker dealing with hundred of patient. But due to a little mistake, the physician or the medical officer rebuked at them or let say there came some error in the readings. Under such condition it is very important for the medical office worker to stay optimistic in order to do justice with the rest of the patient for correct diagnosis, intervention, monitoring and medication.
3. Flexibility - Flexibility is a crucial trait to posses in any medical setting. At certain situations, a medical office worker can be asked to a number of work simultaneously. So it becomes their sole responsibility to deliver every task on time as it will enable them to take care and save lifes of maximum patient possible. Corona crisis can be a very good example to understand this quality.
