I am moderately active on social media and believe that social media as a medium does influence a person to a great extent. In today's digital age people have access to different social platforms where evryone is free to express their own views. People have an opinion on the least trivial things and any information posted on the internet is bound to attract attention.

One of the major impacts it has is on the mental health of individuals. FOMO (fear of mission out) is one of the most common acronyms associated with today's socially active world. Then there are cases of depression, unrealistic expectations, unable to distinguish between virtuality and reality. A lot many people today suffer from lack of self esteem, do not feel connected emotionally which are big inhibitors to ones mental health.. Then we have social platforms such as instagram ,facebook where images posted could trigger disharmony between communities or anxiety. Twitter one of the common platforms for people to tweet and express views or comment on topics has been known to cause stress among lots of people. I myslef have seen people stressed out due to weird comments from unknown people trying to enroach your personal life. It also causes insomnia due to constant use of laptop and smartphones which negatively effects the functioning of the body. from my own perosonal experience I have witnessed lot of relationships going for a toss due to lack of bonding with people spending a lot of time on the gadgets than their partners.

This definetely we can say that social media causes harm in more ways than one.
