In the modern world, communicating with social media has become important for certian reasons, the most important ones are
a. the huge number of people present on social media and using it everyday
b. The speed at which mass communication can happen on social media
c. Increasing rate of internet penetration in the world and reducing cost of electronic devices to access this internet

Yes, there is a time when one has to post anonymously on social media. there can be many reasons, some of them are as under :
a. When one is not sure of a post that migh generate a public reaction, one can post is anonymously so that personal repurcussions on one's personal life can be reduced
b. When complaining about authority in power for abuse of power
  
and many more example which closely mirror the pattern
that the use of social media in a way which is against popular or authorised use (in case of governments banning free speech in certain countries) required anonymous posting to reduce repurcussions in personal life
