What social media do you use?
List all social media/social networks that you use or are a member of. I expect at least three networks. For each network, define whether you are (approximately):
Do you notice advertising on these sites? If so, do you care that they are using this platform to try to market to you? Do you ever click on the ads you may see?
Some of the most popular networks to jog your memory include: Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube, Snapchat, Google+, Pinterest, XboxLive, Playstation Network, Whisper, Flickr, MySpace, FourSquare, TripAdvisor, Yelp, deviantART, Etsy, Epinions, Epicurious, StumbleUpon, Digg, and a plethora of others on just about every topic imaginable.
I use the below social media networks:
- Facebook which is a social networking website
- LinkedIn which is mostly used for building professional network
- Instagram for viewing video content and getting to know people more.
For Facebook I am very active member and I use it daily, for LinkedIn I am semi-active member utilizing it once in 15 days because I do not require to check my professional network very frequently and for Instagram I am occasional member because I use it to follow fitness regime which gets updated once in a month so I do not use Instagram very frequently.
Yes, I have seen the advertisements on these sites, Facebook and Instagram mostly believes in remarketing i.e. the products that I was browsing on some other sites, the advertisements of those products are shown to me so they believe in re-marketing so as to lure the customer to buy more but LinkedIn gives new and pre-defined advertisements which are quite less affected by the previous trends of the customer. Honestly, I feel they have the rights to market their product to us through these platform since these platforms are free for us and we are not paying any cost to them but these social media network companies need to earn as well so these advertisements are a good source for them to stay in the business and keep providing us services without charging a penny from us. Around 10% if the times I click on these advertisements since rest of the times the Ads are not relevant to me.
