1. According to me, I had mixed opinions about social media. It is both boon and a bane. Social media in today's world famously include Facebook, Twitter, Linkedin, Instagram. To explain in detail:

Pros of social media:

  • We can always keep in touch with our family and friends, from any part of the world at just one click of a button
  • We can actually do the virtual study with our friends and classmates by sharing, ideas, information and knowledge
  • Teachers, professors are creating social media groups and offering post-study help by initiating discussions, posting study material, conducting quiz, tests and assist students personally when required.
  • Businesses also starting interactive communities that connect different entrepreneurs and experts all over the world to share their opinions and services about the products. This can improve the productivity of business within less span f time.
  • Students can join professional social media sites like Linkedin to connect with employers directly and can search for employment opportunities.

Cons of social media:

  • People started comparing their lifestyles with others and start undergoing psychological low self-esteem issues and also developing superiority and inferiority complexes upon prolonged usage of social media.
  • Privacy is at stake due to these social media websites
  • Addiction to these websites is another big issue
  • Sharing extreme personal and banking information to others could make accounts vulnerable to cyber-attacks and hacking, which could result in huge financial loss
  • There are chances of stalking for children and teenagers
  • Sitting before computers can create health and mental issues to people

2. Though the core idea behind creating social networks is to establish rich connections, in reality social media creation hasn't reached its goal of connecting people. A person having hundreds of friends online will have only a few friends to rely on real life. People's addiction to social media websites is making them lose precious time required to invest in real-life relations resulting in weak human bonding. This is because of the fact that human relations develop over a period of time and through direct emotional bonding formed by meeting face to face as well as sharing happiness, sadness and ideas together regularly. Over usage of social media websites is making humans isolated by paving way for unmeaningful relations on social media. Social intelligence of reading emotions also gets killed due to increased screen time. Sharing an emoji cannot actually convey the emotional feelings one had towards others actually. So, social media instead of connecting us, it is cutting off from others and also increasing lonliness among many users making them vulnerable to suicides due to undealt depression issues in them.
