National and organizational cultures are two different concepts and phenomena. National culture is related to anthropology, whereas organizational culture is related to sociology. Organizational culture is considered as an integral part of the national culture. There is a widespread belief that organizational culture moderates the impact of the national culture. There is two large research of Hofstede and Andre Laurent for the relationship between the national and organizational cultures.
According to the findings of Hofstede, the national culture values of employees have potential and significant impacts on their performance in the organization, and on the other hand side, organizational cultural values of employees are brought by the employees to work and are not easily changeable.
Andre Laurent supported the findings of Hofstede. According to his findings, cultural differences are more evident among the overseas employees that work within the same international or multinational company compared to among the person working for the organization in their native country.
