Conduct research online to find a high-profile example of both charismatic leadership and transformational leadership. Explain how each of the two people brings to life their style of leadership.
Charismatic leaders are driven by charm, conviction and passion to achieve in life whatever they want with excellent communication skills to convince people in society. Transformational leaders follow the basic rules and regulations in an organization and convince people to follow them on a similar path to achieve success in life. The example of a charismatic leader is Dr.Martin Luther King Jr. He was an excellent orator with good interaction and communication skills to persuade and emphasize of what ever they have said that they can prove in life. Transformational leadership includes the ability of leaders to motivate people to follow a specific path to attain excellence in life. Charismatic leaders have a high task handing management skills, high motivation and confidence levels to prove what ever they have said in life. It was put forward by Howell and Frost. Concept of transformational leadership was given by Downton. Example of transformational leadership is Steve Jobs of Apple and Bill Gates of microsoft.
Transformational leadership theory was developed by Bass and colleagues. Burns laid the foundation of this theory in 1978. It is based on the principle of exchange. It is a process of exchange of business dealings which leads to success by the leader person who has motivated other people to actively participate in such an acitivity. It raises the confidence of the leader and motivates the people to actively participate in the process of exhange of goods, items and votes for their right. There are four components of transformational leadership which are as follows:
Idealized influence.
inspirational motivation.
intellectual stimulation.
Individualized consideration.
