• 2)Rastafarianism is a “movement to Africa” which started with Marcus Garvey in the late 1800s. The customs of this culture range from those recognized by most people, such as reggae music, to those that are not so well known from the outside, such as the food restrictions. One example of a custom in this culture is the religion associated with it, and the methods of worship.
• In Rastafarianism, there is a great deal of emphasis on religion, which explains why the term Rastafarian can be used to express both the culture and the religion of a person who labels themselves as such.
• Due to the heavy emphasis on this particular aspect, many of the other characteristics stem from the religious views that are shared by the Rastafarian people.
• The Rastafarian people of Jamaica possess a distinct culture, which distinguishes them from many other cultures around the world. These characteristics include customs, music, ideals, language, history, and subdivisions.
• Rastas place an emphasis on what they regard as 'living naturally', adhering to dietary requirements ital, allowing your hair to form dreadlocks (rastas) and following patriarchal gender roles.
• Religious and cultural practices of dreadlocks are referred to as livity. Rastafari does not have professional priests, since the dreadlocks do not believe there is a need for a mediator between divinity and practitioner.
• Rasta culture seeks to produce food 'naturally' by eating what they call italian the natural food. This is often organically and locally produced.
• The ritual rhythms of the Rasta began to be incorporated into reggae, and this genre also incorporates dreary songs, languages, motives and social criticism.

• 3) I'd say it's a counterculture that is a subculture.The Rastas believe that God came twice, and the world is going to end according to revelations; meanwhile, the rest of the Christian faith believes that people are still waiting for God to come again.
• There are arguments for the Rastafarian culture to be considered both a subculture and a counterculture. It could be a subculture because of the way Rastafarians can exist among other cultures because some of their beliefs feed off those of others. But they could also be a counterculture because of the fact that they are different to the mainstream culture in their politics, norms, social beliefs, way of dress and social structures.
