Traits that distinguishes leaders and followers can be listed as follows :-
1. Leaders work for causes that are related to their followers whereas followers are concerned about their own issues.
2. Leaders bring change and drive people to achieve more whereas followers depend on the leaders for directions and motivation.
3. Leaders are good listeners and promote equality and fair treatment of their followers. Followers are not always aware of the issues related with the team and are self concerned.
4. Leaders are willing to take charge and responsibility. Followers need leaders to show them the direction and guide them to realise their personal and group goals.
5. Leaders are ideal and lead by examples whereas followers are normal people that find difficult to be idealistic and need leaders to support them to follow ideal values and principles.
6. Leaders are visionary with clarity of goals and objectives whereas followers depend on leaders to achieve the goals and objectives.
As a leader, I would like to develop the trait of being a good listener so that I can solve others problems and understand them. I would like to create a vision for future to motivate the group and team of which I am a part and guide them to achieve those goals with identifying their strengths and encouraging them to realise their inner potential. I would like to build positive relationships with the members of the group and team so that their is trust and belief among the group or team members. Developing these traits will benefit the followers and the team to be self confident and achieve their personal goals and of the team.
