Solutions

Expert Solution

Environmental laws are made specifically for the purpose of safeguarding the environment and emphasizing sustainable development practices. It also focuses on creating a social responsibility towards the environment.

There are various specific acts and regulations passed by the legislation to regulate, monitor and control the generation and disposal of toxic substances and hazardous wastes. To name a few of these regulations - Clean air act, Safe drinking water act, clean water act, etc.

All the environmental laws work on a basic premise of 3-5 important components that clearly defined within the act:

1. Coverage - What does the law specifically cover and what it does exclude from its ambit?

2. Pollutants and its scope - What are some major pollutants, their sources, and their consequences? What are the major contaminators of environmental aspects covered under the act?

3. Actions - What are the regulations, quality benchmarks and penalties imposed on such pollutant generating entities? What are actions to be taken in case of non-compliance by entities?

I hope the answer would suffice for your purpose.
