When does an employee deserve a promotion? What should their promotion be based on?

Solutions

Expert Solution

Ans- Every organization has it's own sets of parameters to promote it's employees. Most of the organization keep in view employee's skills, qualifications, experience, right attitude etc. But I think apart from above discussed qualities if an employee have some other qualities like having clear and right outlook of individual and team performance, optimistic nature, be self aware not selfish, think in long run then he will be more deserving candidate in the pipeline of promotion.

An employee's promotion should be based on certain conditions like:

Perform beyond expectations: As we know that all the employees are assigned certain amount of job. That job require high level of commitment, knowledge, skill, experience etc. If an individual is performing beyond the target it means he is more focused, dynamic, and committed to the assigned job.

Reflects responsibility: Only completion of the job is not important for upgradation/ promotion. As if an employee is promoted then he will have more responsibility in comparison to current job. If in the current job there are reflections of responsibility then he should be considered for promotion.

If his ( an employee's ) aim becomes success of the organization and it exhibit in his working, thinking, because proved his loyalty towards organization, then he should be promoted.
